Infused with the magic of Seasons
Growing Up
is a one room multi-age tiny school, in the middle of nothing but nature, is where tiny children play and learn together, surounded by grassy lands, tall trees, chirpy birds, playful hares, misterious deer, and the sweetest forest babbling brook...
We grow chickens, and from time to time we play with the puffiest little chicks for enhanced life experiences and learning... I have created the little school of my dreams!
A Montessori & Waldorf Inspired Hybrid, with Spark on Nature Engagement, and a piquancy of the arts (painting, poetry, songs, seasonal puppet stories), we search for magic, celebrate childhood, follow Earth's Rhythm, and revere the seasons!
Private Early Learning Program for Toddler & Preschool Ages
Established in 2012, we are currently nestled by 6 forested acres, in Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia. Our beautiful land is surrounded by a natural wild forest and murmurous brook, both magically stunning.
“Don't rush to grow up, little one! Grown-ups vision is not as good as children's sharp eyesight, they sometimes miss out on many beautiful things: a sunset, the morning dew drops, a birdie flying by...
They too walk by them, day in and day out, but they don't notice them anymore . Grown-ups' hearing also gets weaker over time, they don't seem as happy as they once were at the sound of the wind, blowing throught Autumn's colourful dresses. They forgot the smell of the grass after rain, or the river's sounds....
They forgot about the fairytales the sky is telling through its puffy clouds...
Don't rush to grow up, you may not have time to read all the beautiful stories written around you, moment after moment... you may be little, but you're all heart!"

...feeling just overwhelmingly thankful for my life and work with little children! I get to dwell in this happiness everyday and offer my tiny friends this beautiful, wonderful, wholesome, nurturing, slow childhood...
I try to intentionally focus on cultivating thankfulness, in both, my little friends' hearts and my own. It's an emotion to seek, feel and keep forever!
The first 3 years of life are the most unique years in a child's development!
Growing Up was born out of my love for children and the desire to protect the magic, wonder, and essence of childhood, as most of us remember it to be...
If you too, believe that childhood should be slow, gentle, innocent and beautiful and you often find yourself searching for delight, emotion, wonder, wishing for your child to experience childhood's simplicity and magic, you're in the right place!
Childhood is our "curriculum"!
Our connection to the natural world celebrates the seasons of childhood by spending time outdoors every day, playing with natural materials, enjoying home-made food, our experiences and learning are all inspired from the ever changing seasons.
Being outdoors in all kinds of weather establishes a strong connection to nature and encourages imagination, collaboration and hands-on exploration.
"Children need art and stories and poems and music as much as they need love and food and fresh air and play." -read article here

At Growing Up, I follow the child!
In our mixed-age group, the children have different interests and abilities. I follow the children's sensitive periods and introduce experiences and activities based on sensitive observation.
